Itinerary of KSTDC Mysore Sightseeing Package from Bangalore :

  • Morning departure from Bangalore at 06.30 AM
  • Break at 08.45 am – 09.00 am Channapatna
  • Breakfast halt at Maddur at 09.20 am – 09.45.
  • Sightseeing of Daria Daulat Bagh, Gumbaz, Fort, Sri. Ranganatha Swamy Temple at Srirangapatna from 10.50 am – 12.10 pm.

Places of importance in Mysore

Mysuru palace:

You can start Mysore Sightseeing Package with the world famous Mysuru palace. Its majestic & center of attraction which needs to be visited by every tourist who is coming to this beautiful city. On weekends, the palace will be illuminated & you can get a glmpse of its view as shared in the pics by others.

If you visit during Dasara (10 day festival during Sept-Oct), almost all the roads will be illuminated & the entire city will have a festive look. This place is included in Mysore Sightseeing Packages

ChAmunDi Hills:

Its one of the important places to visit for any tourist. Instead of going by bus/car to ChAmunDi hills, if you don’t mind going for a short hike, you can climb the stone stairs (~1000 steps) & get a bird eye view of Mysuru. There is a temple of Goddess ChAmundi atop. This place is included in Mysore Sightseeing Packages

KRS Dam:

Needless to say, this is one of the important place to visit. You can see the brilliant work of Bharata Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya conceptualising & building this dam. There is a musical fountain, another must see place. This place is not included in Mysore Sightseeing Packages

For those who like art/architecture

St Philomena church:

I don’t know the historical importance of this place but its one of the most visited places by tourist. This place is not included in Mysore Sightseeing Packages

Sand Museum:

Its enroute to ChAmunDi Hills. A sand artist by name Gowri has put a lot of effort bringing this up from ground level & made it popular in the city. If you are art lover, you’ll enjoy this place & a must visit place. This place is not included in Mysore Sightseeing Packages

Rail Museum:

Its just beside Mysuru city railway station. A lot of history on train/engines/ etc is displayed. You can take a joy ride on a small train within the museum. This place is not included in Mysore Sightseeing Packages

Natural History Museum:

Its one of the oldest museums which recently got renovated. its one of the less known places & even people who were born & bought up in Mysuru might not have seen this place :). This place is not included in Mysore Sightseeing Packages

JaganmOhana Palace:

It has a collection of rare paintings from Ravi Verma & other art work by famous people. This place is not included in Mysore Sightseeing Packages

For a casual visit with family

Mysuru Zoo:

One of the famous Zoo in India. A good collection of different species & a well maintained zoo. This place isĀ  included in Mysore Sightseeing Packages

KRS backwaters:

if you want to visit water source, backwaters of KRS is the only place within the city. There are no waterfalls in Mysore city. If you visit backwaters post monsoon, its a treat to watch sunset. Venugopala Swamy temple (built on Hoysala architecture) is a must visit place if you happen to visit KRS backwaters. This place is included in Mysore Sightseeing Packages

KAranji lake:

This is another water source which is near Mysuru zoo. They have a boating facility where you can see some of the rare birds, walk through aviary & butter fly park. This place is not included in Mysore Sightseeing Packages

Shuka vana & Bonsai garden:

Its a place which has a good collection of different species of birds. Its near the foot steps of chamunDi hills in Avadhootha Datta pEeTa. If you are visiting this place with kids, they will enjoy the place :). This place is not included in Mysore Sightseeing Packages

GRS Fantasy Park:

Its an amusement park in the city

Happy man park:

Its located in Kuvempunagar. They have added some animals/birds as attraction for tourist. Its not a must see place but if you happen to have time to visit, you will not regret spending time here. This place is not included in Mysore Sightseeing Packages

For education

Mysore Silk factory:

Here you can see the method they follow to weave silk from silk worm. Also, if you are lucky & have right permission, you can get to see the manufacturing facility & understand the difficulties/challenges involved in weaving. This place is not included in Mysore Sightseeing Packages

Nandini Milk Facility:

They allow tourist to take a look at their facility & educate them on the process of preparing various milk products. Its the central facility where all the packed milk/curd/other milk products are processed & distributed to various parts of karnataka. This place is not included in Mysore Sightseeing Packages

For Indian classical music

NAda Brahma Sangeetha Sabha:

Built in the memory of Shri Mysore VasudevAcharya, a legendary musician & composer of south Indian classical music, organises music programs almost every week. Famous artists (South Indian/Hindustani classical) across India comes & gives their performance at this venue. Not included in Mysore Sightseeing Packages.

GAnaBhArathi:

Its one of the oldest music institute & popularly known as “Veene Sheshanna Bhavana”. They organize monthly music programs & the entrance is free for everyone. This place is not included in Mysore Sightseeing Packages from Bangalore.

BiDarAma Krishnappa mandira:

Its located in the heart of the city. Its a small venue but is considered as holy place for every musician. All stalwarts of classical music of yester years & present generation have a dream of giving their performance at this place. The place has rare photographs of legendary south Indian musicians right from the time of Kings of Mysore. Not included in Mysore Sightseeing Packages.
