Tirupati Balaji Darshan On Foot
Those devotees who would like to climb the hills of Tirumala to fulfil a vow can take one of the two well-laid stone footpaths leading to Tirumala hills. These footpaths are called as sopanamargas.
The most commonly used footpaths by the devotees and the more ancient of the two sopanamargas starts from Alipiri at the foot of the hills. This is about 11 km in length. The other footpath (sopanamarga) starts from Chandragiri. Although this is only about 6 km in length, it is a more difficult route. It is mainly used by the locals and traders.
Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams provides several facilities to devotees who walk up the hills for Balaji Darshan. Many devotees ask us whether it is possible to climb the hills on food in our Tirupati Packages. This is not possible with the bus packages we provide because there will be about 45 pilgrims in the bus and everyone should stick together to maintain the timings of the package. However, climbing the hills on foot is possible in our Car Packages to Tirupati where the car drops you at the foot of the hills where you can start climbing hills and have darshan. The car will be parked in Tirumala to pick you up after darshan.
